By Nadia Ibanez. While I was trying to get out of a bad relationship, I was offered a job in San Francisco. But in addition to starting an exciting new job, I moved here with the intention of finding a new man. Little did I know that the dating scene in San Francisco is a little different from that of the rest of the state. Even Broke Ass Stuart agrees that the dating scene here is weird. Back in SoCal, where I lived previously, I was surrounded by friends on the marriage and baby path no thank you! But in San Francisco, I saw a whole different side of dating. I finally saw and experienced what I was missing out on. I live in the Outer Richmond. I love being as far as possible from the screaming sirens constantly running down Market Street and the insanity of the bar crowds.
The couple credits their adventurousness and creativity to their lack of formal training in woodworking and welding. White, 53, and Rodman, 50, first met at the City College of San Francisco, where they both studied cinematography in the s. After working in the film industry for more than 10 years, they started making furniture together in the carport of their Los Angeles apartment. Soon their hobby became a full-time job. Twelve years ago they returned to the Bay Area, where they found a 3,square-foot live-work space on 47th Street in Oakland.
They have stayed put ever since, having found unique ways to make the best use of the space, such as keeping their woodworking and welding tools on wheels, so they can be taken out and put away easily.
This fact sparked an idea for a story around dating in the digital age we created called “Clouds”. Check out more behind the scenes footage from the creation of #oakland #independentfilm #crowdfunding #webseries.

I arrived on the singles scene in with an aching heart and a lot to learn. Seemingly overnight, dating apps had shifted from the desperate domain of the overs to the new normal. Every man and his dog were on Tinder — or every man and his sedated tiger, all dumb grins and flexed muscles bulging out of Bintang singlets. Initially hesitant, I got into the swing of it soon enough; window-shopping for boys from the comfort of your couch sure has its benefits, and amongst the beefed-up bodybuilders and BDSM buffs, there seemed to be a few potential suitors.
After all, I have a clean record, wide smile and impeccable hygiene. The reality was rife with rejection.

An intense manhunt in Northern California, after a man was killed New Year’s Eve when he attempted to chase down the getaway car of the brazen thieves who swiped his laptop computer from a coffee shop in broad daylight, has produced two arrests, police said. The death marked the 75th homicide in Oakland, California, in , up from a year low of 62 homicides reported in the Bay Area city of , people in , according to officials.
Investigators had combed through security video and interviewed witnesses to help identify the suspects, who could face murder charges , police told ABC News. The New Year’s Eve slaying unfolded around a. Witnesses told ABC News San Francisco station KGO that the victim, whose name has yet to be released, was working on his laptop near a window when the thieves snatched the computer.
The victim, witnesses said, caught up to the getaway car and may have grabbed onto the door handle in an effort to get his laptop back. As the vehicle accelerated away, the victim apparently lost his grip and was flung head-first into a parked car. Nearby Oakland firefighters who witnessed the startling crime in the upscale business district rushed to provide medical attention to the victim, who later died at a local hospital, police said.
His face was purple and blue,” Maria Chan, owner of a florist shop in the area, told KGO, describing the victim. The fatal incident was reminiscent of an August homicide in Oakland in which a local musician, Dave Deporis, chased after thieves who stole his laptop from a coffee shop and was dragged about yards before he fell under the wheels of the getaway car. The year-old Deporis was killed in the city’s Temescal neighborhood, about 4 miles away from Tuesday’s deadly confrontation.
At the time, friends of Deporis told reporters he may have chased after the thieves because he had his music, including an unfinished new album, on his laptop. Shows Good Morning America.
